Have you ever been sitting in front of your wood fire feeling nice and cosy but
dreading to go to another part of the house which you know will be freezing cold?
The need to be able to heat the whole house from a single
solid fuel/wood heater was conceived out of the frustration of only really having
one room cosy and the other rooms cold.
After speaking to family and friends, Luke and Garry discovered that this
was a very common problem throughout rural and the provincial communities in
Victoria, and even southern states of Australia where the winters are long, and
get cold and chilly.
TURBOHEAT - THE INVENTION & DESIGN
Six years prior to the invention of Turboheat, Garry and his wife travelled to visit their daughter, son in law and grandchildren living in Gisborne, Central Victoria. Gisborne is a very cold and windy area throughout the winter months. It was a freezing cold night & they had their wood heater running to its maximum in an effort to heat their 18 square home. The heater they were using was a reasonably new heater capable of heating 28 squares. Unfortunately it was not heating any other room but the immediate room the heater was situated in. The rest of the house was still cold.
The only alternative was bottled gas central heating, however this proved to be far too expensive to run. Garry and Luke discussed the problem. Their conversation came about how hot it was in the living room where the heater was and how cold it was in the bedrooms and the rest of their home. Garry looked up at the wood heater flue and noticed the cowl was glowing red in the darkness of the night and said to Luke look at all that lost heat, wasted to the atmosphere. We need to capture it somehow and use it.
They discussed how stupid it was to have ducted heating and a wood heater used simultaneously in an effort to heat the whole home and they brainstormed together until they worked out a way of marrying the two together. Thus the concept of Turboheat was conceived. With the help of many people and experts in this field, and a lot of time and money spent, we are now ready to heat your home. Turboheat is the most unique system of heating in the world, there have been many attempts at trying something similar by others, but all have failed.
